    Meta/ Goal: Be able to recite the ABCs in Spanish
     
    I. Campana
     
    II. Recite ABCs- Students were shown random letters and practiced their pronunciation.
     
    III. Vocabulary Practice-  Students read out loud conversations in Spanish and recognized vocabulary words.
     
    IV. Lección Preliminar Grammar Notes- Students took Cornell Notes on some grammar points that Señorita Michaelson lectured on.  If you were absent please get the Cornell Notes sheet from the absent work bin.
     
    Tarea/ Homework: ABC Diction Quiz 
     
    Life Connections
    Goal: see time commitments and prioritize tasks
     
    I. Bellwork
     
    II. Reviewing yesterdays handout on Time Management-  Groups of students were assigned  a small part of the handout to summarize then share out with the class.
     
    III.  Prioritization- Students were taught a method of prioritization.  Using their weekly schedule, students created a To-Do list then assigned each task a 1,2, or 3 to show the level of importance.  
     
    IV. Ted Talk- "All it takes is 10 mindful minutes"- Students watched a Ted talk about taking some time to focus on the present and how it will help them.Click here to see it.
     
    Homework: Take some time to make sure binder is organized

    III.  ABC activities-  On the sheet with the alphabet, students completed the activities that required them to spell out names and answers to questions in Spanish.
     
    Tarea/Homework: Review ABC, review Lección Preliminar

    Goal: be able to see a week's time commitments
     
    I. Bellwork
     
    II. Weekly Schedule- Students were asked out to block out events that happen during a typical week.  This includes school, extra-curricular activities, and fun things. 
     
    III. Students read and annotated the article "Manage Your Work, Don't Let It Manage You".  This article is about how to manage time and what strategies you can use.
     
    Homework: double check your weekly schedule and add anything you missed.

    Meta/Goal- recognize new/old vocabulary and be able to explain the job of definite and indefinite articles.

    II. Vocabulary Review- Students read outloud from the textbook to see and hear some vocabulary in context.
     
    III.  Review of Definite and Indefinite Article-  Students received a couple notes pages to be filled out in class with Mrs. Michaelson.  Today we completed the definite and indefinite articles section.
     
    IV. Students received  practice sheets to practice definite and indefinite articles.
     
    Tarea: Finish Indefinite and Definite articles practice in practice sheets.

    Goal/ Meta: Be able to recite the Spanish ABCs
     
    I. Syllabus Quiz.  Students took a short quiz on the syllabus.  If you were absent please make it up with Señorita Michaelson.
     
    II. Introduction to vocabulary.  
    •    Students were given a list of vocabulary that will be learned in Lección Preliminar.  If you were absent you need to get this from the absent work tray. 
    •    I showed and explained to students what I expect when I ask for vocabulary translations.    
      • List: Spanish --> English
      • Pictures: Students can draw pictures with the Spanish word labeling them
      • Flahscards
    • Students were assigned to translate Vocab sections days of the week, phone numbers, introductions, and greetings.
    III.  We briefly reviewed ABC and pronunciation.  Students watched a video and said the letters outloud.  
     
    Tarea/Homework: Finish translating assigned sections and practice ABC pronunciation.

    Goal: Identify 2-3 strategies to use when studying
     
    I. Syllabus Quiz:  Students completed the quiz via socractic.com.  Ask them about it!  If you were absent you need to schedule to make this up.
     
    II. Learning Styles wrap up: Yesterday students took a test to find out what their dominant learning style is.  Today they will be discovering and marking some study strategies that will help them in the specific area. 
     
    III. Computer/ Infinite Campus sign-in: Students were guided through how to log-in to school computers and use that user name and password for Infinite Campus.

    Student MUST FIRST sign- in on a SCHOOL COMPUTER then complete the following steps.

    User name: s+id#
    Password: s+id#+!(this is for first login ONLY)
    Student 2-12 will be forced to change their password on their initial login and they can change it to something of their choice (hopefully easier to remember).  Below are the requirements for the password changes:
       7th-12th grade: 8 characters minimum, combination of uppercase, lowercase, number, and special character (3 of those 4 options).  Cannot contain their first or last name or ID number.

    I. Annotation Introduction-  Students were introduced to the method of annotation that will be used at ACP.  Students received a guide to keep as resource.  Students were then given an article titled "Top Ten Reasons to Learn Spanish."  We then went through the practice of annotation with this article.  
     
    II. Classzone/ Website Resources Directions- Students spent sometime learning how to access resources that they will be expected to use throughout the course.  
     
    III. Syllabus Review-  Students were given a set of questions to help them prepare for the syllabus quiz.
     
    IV. Intro of Spanish alphabet-  Students received a handout with the Spanish alphabet and appropriate pronunciation.   Students should begin practicing their pronunciation!!  Don't forget to check out the video under Spanish Classroom Links!
     
    Tarea/ Homework: Review the ABCs

    II. Binder Organization-  We took a few minutes to organize student papers into their correct places as well as decide where homework will go.

    IV.  Learning Styles Assessment-  Student took an short quiz about some of their learning habits.  They were able to find out the type of learner they are as well as some study strategies that will work best for them.
     
    V. Teacher Website Exploration-  Students had some time to explore their teacher websites and find important information and any resources that teachers have posted.
     
    VI.  Typing Practice-  Students began typing practice.

    III.  Pass out and review syllabus-  Together we read the syllabus and answered any questions that students had.  If you were absent, please get a syllabus from Mrs. Michaelson.
