Using district blueprints as the backdrop, Erie students
engage in writing activities daily.  Explicit instruction is
provided in a variety of subject areas including grammar,
sentence structure, voice, ideas, word choice, and organization.
 
All Erie students are assessed quarterly on a site based writing
prompt that is provided at the end of each grading period. 
Writing samples are graded by teachers and growth is tracked
using writing folders that are passed on to next year's teacher.
In grades K-4 students are exposed to writing personal narratives,
while grades 5-6 focus on persuasive writing.
 
The district has developed writing blueprints detailing what each grade level will learn.  These blueprints are correlated to AZ State Standards.
