Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) is an academic class to develop scholars, leaders, and citizens with positive values, character, and conduct. It seeks to instill the spirit of service essential to improving our nation and world.

It is important to understand that the nature of AFJROTC as well as its high visibility within the school and community requires its members to adhere to higher standards than might normally be found among the student body. Students are expected to live with honor, following our Honor Code, “I will not lie, cheat, or steal nor tolerate those who do.” Successful students eagerly conform to these high, yet attainable standards.

AFJROTC operates within the framework of a military organization. This provides a structure for students to develop leadership and management skills. Students earn positive recognition, responsibility and other opportunities for their integrity, service, and excellence.

Parents or guardians will be disappointed if they expect AFJROTC to be a disciplinary or rehabilitation program.

AFJROTC is not preparation for the military. Students have no military or government service obligation. Most students do not enter the military or the aerospace industry.

There are, however, benefits for students seeking appointment to a service academy, Air Force college ROTC scholarships, or enlistment in the military services, that are not available to the general student body.

Being a cadet also has near term benefits. Earning 1½ AFJROTC credits completes the Chandler Unified School District Physical Education (PE) graduation requirement. Also, students may earn college credit for AS100, 200, 210, 300 or 400 with the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

There are optional events, teams, clubs, camps, conferences, and trips only AFJROTC students may earn the opportunity to participate in. AFJROTC assists with funding or completely funds many of these. Examples include:

- Paintball
- Field Day Competitions With Other JROTC Corps
- Laser Tag
- Air Force Refueling Flights
- Air Force Air Combat Simulators
- Model Rocket Competitions
- Orienteering Competitions
- Summer Leadership School
- JROTC National Honors Camp
- Formal Dances & Dinners
- National-level Drill Team Competitions
- Military Base Visits

Upcoming Freshmen (Current 8^th Graders) - This year you can take AS 100 Journey Into Aviation. AS100 include introductory elements of Science of Flight and Exploring Space. Learn about the military. Get excited about your future. Get integrated into Hamilton and join the fun!!!

Upcoming Sophomores - Our full-year courses for 2012-2013 are Exploring Space (AS400) and Cultural Studies: An Intro to Global Awareness(AS200). Learn the basics of astronomy and space exploration, or study the regions of the world making the news. Learn their cultures and how the United States is affected! First up: The Middle East. Go beyond the headlines!!

Upcoming Juniors/Seniors - Yes, you can enroll in Exploring Space or Global and Cultural Studies (or AS 400 for seniors only). But are you looking for a challenge? AFJROTC seem too simple for your upper level academic skills? Have you ever thought about flying, but noticed the high cost? Need 5 hours of college credit? Then Aviation Ground School is for you. This one-year, dual-credit option course is a certified FAA ground school. And you still have all the benefits of being in AFJROTC!!

All - Didn't join AFJROTC as a freshmen? No problem. You may join at any semester in any class that your grade is allowed to join! AND pass any course with an A or B, and you could be eligible for college credit with the Adams State College.
