BOBCAT TRACKS

Welcome to the Basha Bobcat Tracks web page. Here you will see all our school and classroom news. This will make our school news more accessible and allow us to keep up to date on information. This page will be updated weekly by the Basha Media Club, usually on Mondays.  __________________________________________________________

AIMS testing starts tomorrow, April 17th. Our school will maintain a "Quiet Zone" from 8:45-11:45 each day to ensure the best testing environment. There will be no phone calls or classroom visits allowed during this time. If you need to get a message to your student, it is suggested that you email the classroom teacher.

Also, please make sure your student is getting a good nights sleep and a healthy breakfast each day.

Basha Parent Survey Now Available

The 2012 Basha Parent Survey is now available. Please take a few moments to take it. This survey gives us valuable information about how our parents feel about our school. It also helps us make any changes for the next school year.

At the end of the survey, there is an option to print a completion form. Please do this and give it to your child to return to school. (There is no personal information of any indication of your survey answers. It simply states that the survey was completed.)

The first 100 students to return their survey completion form will receive a duck for their lanyard. (These were extremely popular during our fundraiser ealier in the year.)

Additionally, the top 3 classes with the most surveys returned will get a visit from A.S.U.'s Sparky!

Here is a link to the survey:

Thank you.

Our principal, Mr. Keith Falconer, has announced his retirement. Mr. Falconer will be leaving us at the end of the school year. While we are sad to see him go, we look back fondly on his eight years at Basha. Mr. Falconer brought many things to Basha, including an infectious positive attitude. He has always put students and their learning first as is evidenced by Basha's "A" rating from the State. The staff and students here at Basha wish all the best to Mr. Falconer in his retirement. We have been very lucky to have here and will miss him greatly.

Our new principal has been named. Mr. Joel Knorr has accepted an offer to become Basha's next leader. Mr. Knorr comes to us from the Dysart School District where he has been principal at Mountain View Elementary for the past five years. He was previously a teacher and a Dean in Chandler and a principal in Florance. We welcome Mr. Knorr and his family to our Basha family and look forward to many more great years at Basha.

22nd February, 2012

Girl Scout Troop 2127 has been collecting plastic grocery bags to recycle on behalf of the Girl Scouts’ 100th Anniversary Take Action Project, “It’s in the Bag!” The 13 Brownie and Daisy girls are divided between Basha and Tarwater Elementaries in Chandler. Together, they have expanded their Take Action Project to include the two schools and have collectively gathered nearly 24,000 grocery bags to recycle over the past three weeks. The Bashas’Family of Stores has graciously partnered with the Girl Scouts to recycle these bags and join in the girls’ efforts to make the world a better place.

Girl Scout Troop 2127 would like to thank the staff, students, and parents of both Basha and Tarwater Elemntaries as well as the Bashas Family for their continued support and generosity.

Basha's Arizona Centennial Celebration was Feb. 14. Our 4th graders performed a singing and recording concert featuring songs of Arizona at 6:30. The halls were also decked out with various celebrations and interesting displays about Arizona.
Happy 100th birthday, Arizona!

If you haven't sent in an orange "Intent Form" yet, please do so. These forms are so we can get an accurate idea of the number of students returning to Basha next year.

Basha's Spring Book Fair will be held March 5-9 in the Media Center. This year's theme is "Reading Rocks!" The fair will be open from 8:00-3:30 each day and will be open during student-led conferences on March 8 and will stay open until 6:30 pm.

Arizona's Official State Historian recently visited Basha. Marshall Trimble came to speak with Basha's 4th graders. He sang songs and told stories about Arizona's history. He also spoke about some of the lesser known towns in Arizona like Belly Button.

Basha's Lego Robotics Club won the coveted research award at a recent competition.
