BASHA HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Student Requirements

1) Be on time.

2) Dress out and participate fully every day.

3) Follow directions, stay on task and respect the facilities and equipment. No gum or drinks allowed in the PE areas with the exception of Bottled water.

4) Show respect to teachers and peers

5) Remain in designated area and never leave without permission.

6) Be responsible for personal belongings. Bring your own lock and secure it each day.

Required Dress

1) Basha PE shorts (green) or plain black athletic shorts with no pockets.

2) Basha PE shirt or plain white, grey or black T-shirt (no tank tops or cut-offs).

3) Gym shoes (no boots, sandals, roller shoes)

Grading Scale

Everyone starts each quarter with an A+ (100 Points). This grade is maintained unless one of the following occurs:

Points deducted for the following:

1) Unexcused or excused absence from class -4

2) Not dressed out for class -4

3) Not properly engaged in activity. -1 - -4

Points Made up by the following: Excused or unexcused absences (all make up must be done each quarter)

1) Write a 400 word essay (topics: sports, health, fitness) +4

2) Make up mile (one per day at the Teachers Discretion i.e. +4

Before or after school)

3) In-class assignment +2

(Walking or 200 word essay on sports and fitness)

Non-dress Student

If a student is not dressed out for class:

1) First offense- complete in-class assignment (See above)

2) Second offense- call parent, complete in-class assignment

3) Third offense- call parent, notify administration by email, complete in-class assignment.

4) Fourth offense- call parent, referral to administration, complete in-class assignment

Tardy Policy-

First Tardy- Student-Teacher conference

Second Tardy- Student -Teacher conference

Third Tardy- Call home

Fourth Tardy- Call home

Fifth Tardy- Call home

Sixth Tardy- Referral to the administration

Behavior Plan- Profanity will not be accepted in any of the PE areas. The following actions will occur when behavior becomes an issue, i.e. inappropriate language, disrespect to peers or staff, etc.

First offense- Student –Teacher conference

Second offense- Call home, Referral

Third offense- Call home, Referral, notify administration

Conference period will be on Thursday and Friday from 9:17 - 9:45. During this time students are only allowed out of the classroom if they have a pass. The library is not available during conference. Students should use this time to study or read.

Security Theft occurs when a student leaves their belongings in an unsecured area or they fail to lock their locker.

1) Students are responsible for providing their own lock for PE. Each student will have a locker to lock their personal items during class. However, some classes will need to take their lock and clothes with them after each class. The bookstore will sell locks but the student does not need to buy them from the school. Each student is ultimately responsible for his or her belongings. Teachers will not store clothing and personal items in their offices.

2) Do Not Bring valuable items to school! We are not responsible for them if they are lost or stolen. This includes excess money, CD players, cell phones and MP3 players.
