    We Can Help:

    Synthetic drugs are new and still much is unknown about theireffects and the dangers. Prescription pill abuse is as prevalent asever and continues to be a threat in our communities. According to a recentreport (National Survey on Drug Use and Health - State Estimates of NonmedicalUse of Prescription Pain Relievers, January 8, 2013), Arizona had thesixth-highest level of prescription pain-reliever abuse in the nation in2010-2011. 66 percent of Arizona residents ages 12 and above were misusingprescription drugs in that period, compared to a national rate of 4.57 percent.

     

    Being “In the Know” empowers YOU andprotects your Child. Our interactiveparenteducation program focuses on raising awareness about the epidemic levels ofprescription drug abuse and emerging synthetic drugs threatening our community.This free session is available to parents (at no charge) through theirworkplace and local community settings in the East Valley.

    About the Presenter:

    Stephanie Siete is the Director of Community Educationfor Community Bridges, Inc. (CBI). Ms. Siete is an expert prevention trainer ondrug trends and community resources spending the majority of her time educatingthe public about the realities of drug abuse. Stephanie has worked in CommunityOutreach providing education to students, parents, teachers, and administratorsfor over 12 years. She also continues to train law enforcement, emergencypersonnel, crisis volunteers and businesses on drug trends, signs and symptomsand drug concealment. Ms. Siete frequently participates in interviews with localtelevision networks and together  withthe Mesa Prevention Alliance, leads the East Valley Synthetic Task Force (EVSDTF);collaborating with first responders, coalitions and schools to combat the issues of bath salts and spice.

    Parents In the Know is a Project funded by the Arizona Parents Commission on Drug Education and Prevention through a grant with the Governor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families
